This Saturday is Earth Hour!

Will you Power Off? This Saturday join the Global Movement that raises awareness and consciousness for Mother Earth!

Earth Hour is on the last Saturday of every March at 8:30pm local time, which is this Saturday March 26, 2022. Unplug electronics, switch off the lights, and disconnect from devices to stand united for the home we all share.

Since 2007, Earth Hour started off as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney, Australia to raise warning about climate change. Now it’s one of the world's largest grassroots movements for the environment with more than 190 countries and territories!

Uniting and pledging to act, like participating in Earth Hour, is how we can all do our part protecting our planet for future generations. No act is too small.

There's a popular Chinese proverb that says:

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now.”

Awareness about the suffering of nature, including our connection to it, was needed more than 20 years ago, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start today. If we want to achieve greatness, like saving the planet, we must act!

Switching off your lights is a small act that also helps you reconnect with yourself and this precious life we have here on Earth. The magic lies in the milestones that this annual movement has achieved! Earth Hour has become so popular that it got the attention of governments who actually did the right thing. Worldwide, countries have passed laws which secured hectares of land, protected seas from oil pollution, banned plastic bags, and transitioned to renewables! These acts saw a reduction in energy use and discouraged new oil and other harmful projects to the environment.

As an environmentalist, I am concerned about pollution, the future of wildlife, and the stressful impacts climate change is having on human beings.

However, these can all be avoided if we do our part to reduce, re-use, and recycle like so:

  • Reduce consumption: The more stuff we buy, the more “stuff” is made. Buy re-used when possible. Plus, reduce the amount of PLASTIC consumption. We all have a reusable water bottle and grocery bag at this point, they must be used under all costs!

  • Re-use: Learn what up-cycling is, it’s so creative! Furthermore, pass items along to others, don’t just toss it in the trash.

  • Recycle: Place the right things in the right bin! Please recycle all plastic and try to find as much biodegradable packaging for the trash as possible.

These are easy ways to reduce your individual carbon footprint here on the planet, just like taking part in Earth Hour is easy. If everyone participates, with this same conscious effort, the world can regenerate.

As a professional in the health and wellness industry, I am aware of my body and of the bodies of many others. I am aware of all the different lives of all the different people, who all have a set of plans for life. For these plans to go through, we need our bodily planet to be alive and healthy! That is how we are all connected in my eyes.

Body, mind, Mother Earth. Namaste.
